Kate S. Ventura Zuniga

I’m Kate, an industrial designer and maker based in Brooklyn. My work is rooted in curiosity, about how materials behave, how objects shape our daily rituals, and how memory and heritage can be held in form.

Raised in a Latinx household, I grew up surrounded by resourcefulness and craft, where objects carried stories and meaning beyond their function. That sensibility still guides me: I see design as a way to create presence in the everyday, weaving together the tactile, the useful, and the quietly expressive.

My practice moves fluidly across furniture, ceramics, jewelry, textiles, and lighting, letting each material guide its own process. Sometimes that means slotting wood; other times it’s coaxing clay. In every scale, from the intimate to the architectural, I seek clarity, quiet resonance, and forms that invite touch.

For me, design is not about decoration but about relationship, between hand and material, object and body, person and space. Working between digital tools and physical processes, I bring together modeling, rendering, prototyping, and craft to create outcomes that feel both thoughtful and lived in.

Each piece is an offering: an object made to be handled, inhabited, and remembered.
A design that doesn’t just exist in space, but shapes it, with care, presence, and intention.
